US imposes ban on import of shrimps from Pakistan 19 May 2017
 
US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) has imposed a ban on the import of shrimps from Pakistan. According to reports, USFDA authorities claim that the ban was imposed because local Pakistani fishing industry does not ensure installation of turtle excluder devices in the fishing nets.

State Faces Annual Shortage Of 22,000 MT Of Fish 18 May 2017
 
The co-chairman of Meghalaya State Planning Board, John F Kharshiing, who chaired the meeting, said while the demand for fish per annum is 30,000 metric tonnes (MT), production is only 8,000 MT and hence, 22,000 MT of fish is imported, especially from Andhra Pradesh.

Fiji to ban export of beche-de-mer this monthFisheries authorities in Fiji say they are seeking to impose a seasonal ban on beche-de-mer exports by the end of the month because the resource is on the verge of being wiped out. 10 May 2017
 
Beche-de-mer or sea cucumber is considered a delicacy in China and top varieties can sell for more than $US2000 dollars a kilo. Fiji's new minister of Fisheries Semi Koroilavesau told Koroi Hawkins he has already banned the use of scuba-diving gear for harvesting beche-de-mer but it has done little to slow exports.
