Living up to its epithet of being the Meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibition (MICE) destination – Hyderabad is set to host three big ticket events shortly.
The fourth edition of the Global Logistics Show is scheduled to be held from Jan 17-19. This will be followed by India Aquaex India 2019, a fisheries industry event from Jan 31 to Feb 2. Then there is BioAsia, the annual flagship event of the lifesciences industry.
These are preceded by the successful International Kite and Sweet Festival, which will culminate on Tuesday.
Presence of infrastructure to host large gatherings and connectivity apart, Hyderabad is the chosen location as it boasts of several stakeholders having their operations in the city.
Sukhjinder Singh, Chief Executive Officer of Infinity Expo, which is organising the fourth edition of Global Logistics Show from January 17 to 19 at Hitex, said it will showcase products and services on offer to warehousing and logistics sector. The event is expected to see 4,000 people attending. It will be a key sourcing platform for supply chain leaders from automobile and automotives, e-commerce, food, FMCG, pharma, retail, textile, cement and other segments.
Along with the exhibition, there will also be Asia Pharma Supply Chain Summit and Global Supply Chain Summit, he said.
Interestingly, Hyderabad is already on the global map for bulk drug production and presence of many drug firms in the city. Logistics and warehousing too are on the rise- their clusters are increasing towards Medchal, Shamshabad and Patencheru.
V Ramachandra Raju, President, Society for Indian Fisheries and Aquaculture, which together with Government of Telangana is organising AquaEx India 2019, said, the fisheries industry is expected to attract more than 200 exhibitors from across the world. This is the second consecutive year that the event will be held at Hitex in Hyderabad.
“Our idea is to create a global platform for Indian fisheries and aquaculture by bringing the latest technologies, services, equipment and machinery from across the globe. We want the world to see and have insights about our fisheries trade potential,” said Raju adding that fisheries provides livelihood to about 14.5 million people in the country.
Among others, it will deliberate on importance of genetically improved fish seed in enhancing fish production and the need for introduction of new species. It will also stress on making State specific action plan for quality fish seed supply chain, he said.
Sandeep Kumar Sultania, Principal Secretary, Government of Telangana, said Telangana is working to make fisheries sector vibrant to sustain rural economy. It is determined to take the benefit of increased fish production reach every fisherman in the State. Hyderabad has the potential to become a fisheries trading hub in the State as well as country because of availability of infrastructure and global connectivity, he said.
Lifesciences industry’s flagship event, BioAsia 2019, is scheduled to be held from February 25-27. Representatives from more than 50 countries are expected to participate. There would be 800-plus corporates and 1000-plus partnering meetings. The satellite events include conferences, expert sessions, trade show and a startup showcase among others.
