Russia May Increase Duties on Fish Exports to Slow Shipments Out of Its Market

The Russian government is considering increasing duties on the exports of fish and seafood out of the country, due to ongoing growth of prices for fish and seafood in the domestic market.

According to recent statements of an official spokesman of the Russian Federal Agency of Fisheries (Rosrybolovstvo), despite the recent strengthening of the domestic currency – ruble, prices for fish in Russia continue to grow, while a the majority of Russian fish catch is imported to abroad, mostly to the Asia-Pacific region.
